I Won’t Leave Joe Biden Alone
It doesn’t matter how many times the White House lies about Biden’s “historic” economic achievements, reality is plain: the United States is in trouble.
Unfortunately, it’s a fact that the mainstream media will happily run cover for Democratic Party figures. For decades, outlets have worked as the propaganda wing of the American Left, by making excuses for failures, constructing successes, or even arguing that a politician’s unpopularity is actually down to their raw and misunderstood intelligence — see Al Gore and John Kerry as examples.
But under the ever-growing storm clouds of Biden’s complete failure at the helm, the mainstream media have gone one step further: asking us to leave the President of the United States — the supposed leader of the free world — alone.
This started before Biden was even president, with Walter Shapiro of The New Republic calling on critics to “Give Joe Biden a Break” over one month before Biden’s inauguration. The following March, Ed Kilgore called for New York Magazine readers to “Give Biden a Break,” and who can forget Tom Nichols’ absurd column for The Atlantic, “Leave Joe Biden Alone”?
And with every new demonstrable failure of the Biden administration, the “leave poor ol’ Joey alone” routine has continued.
“Here’s the deal, Democrats: You need to give Joe Biden a break,” wrote Dana Milbank for The Washington Post on July 6, 2022. “It’s fair for Democrats to ask whether in 2024 they should re-nominate a man in his 82nd year. But this Goldilocks tale about Biden’s too-hot and too-cold rhetoric needs to be put to bed,” Milbank argued.
“Joe Biden can’t catch a break,” wrote CNN’s Chris Cillizza in an analysis piece the following day, pointing to the waves of fleeing communications workers hurling themselves from the sinking ship of the Biden administration.
“So, Biden is frustrated because the message is bad and chaotic. He lashes out at staff for it. That makes them more likely to leave. Which creates a bad and chaotic messaging department. It's a vicious circle,” Cillizza wrote.
While all of these arguments differ slightly in their focus, they are all built on one singular goal: to encourage Biden critics to back off.
And to that, we should offer a resounding “hell no.”
