On Wednesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott held a press conference following Tuesday’s horrendous mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The press conference quickly went viral, not for its substance or the subject at hand, but because Robert “Beto” O’Rourke crashed the event, and hurled abuse at the panel.

Soon after Gov. Abbott handed over to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, O’Rourke was seen approaching the stage.

“The time to stop the next shooting is right now and you are doing nothing. You are offering us nothing,” O’Rourke shouted. “This is totally predictable when you choose not to do anything.”

Law enforcement stopped O’Rourke from getting any closer to the stage, before escorting him from the building.

“You’re a sick son of a bitch, you would come to a deal like this to make a political issue,” one Texas sheriff on the stage responded.

Now, O’Rourke — whose single greatest achievement is successfully marketing himself as Hispanic — is running for Texas Governor. And, like all true politicians, even the worst tragedies are viewed through a single lens: how can I make this work for me?
