Taylor Lorenz: The Minister Of Bullshit
As Biden’s Ministry of Truth becomes the CNN+ of government, the Washington Post rushes to defend the failed misinformation board.
On Wednesday, the Biden administration’s controversial “Ministry of Truth” — officially known as the “Disinformation Governance Board” — was put on ice, becoming the CNN+ of government after just three weeks of sputtering existence.
Such a move is hardly surprising, given the Orwellian nature of the board’s purpose and the terrifying notion that a partisan entity should ever be responsible for deciding what is true and what is false — let alone the fact that the same people claiming this responsibility also believe that men can become women.
Funnily enough, not only was this news first delivered by one of the nation’s largest purveyors of propaganda — the Washington Post — but the article was written by someone who delights in uncovering the identity of private individuals online and then crying victim when she is criticized for her online antics: Taylor Lorenz.
And in true Taylor Lorenz fashion, the theme of the article was not “Democrats do a thing,” but “conservatives react to Democrats doing a thing.”
Conservatives pounce!
In a report titled, “How the Biden administration let right-wing attacks derail its disinformation efforts,” Lorenz immediately framed Nina Jankowicz — who was selected to head up the board — as a victim of vicious right-wing attacks.
Jankowicz, according to Lorenz, is simply a “well-known figure in the field of fighting disinformation and extremism,” and “someone with extensive experience in the field of disinformation.”
After all, she has written books, such as “How to Be a Woman Online,” and “How to Lose the Information War,” with an apparently “well-regarded” career featuring “stints at multiple nonpartisan think tanks and nonprofits and [including] work that focused on strengthening democratic institutions.”
Despite being seemingly overqualified for this role, Lorenz continued, “Jankowicz was thrust into the spotlight by the very forces she dedicated her career to combating,” with her role as the board’s executive director immediately “mischaracterized” as she became a “primary target on the right-wing Internet.”
“She has been subject to an unrelenting barrage of harassment and abuse while unchecked misrepresentations of her work continue to go viral,” Lorenz wrote, presumably through tears.
According to Lorenz, the board’s “pause” and Jankowicz’s subsequent resignation is actually a “prime example of how the right-wing Internet apparatus operates,” in which “far-right influencers attempt to identify a target, present a narrative and then repeat mischaracterizations across social media and websites with the aim of discrediting and attacking anyone who seeks to challenge them.”
The irony is lost on the Washington Post’s own doxxer-in-chief, of course.
