The battle for the country’s worst columnist is as competitive as ever, with pseudo-journalists falling over each other to provide the nation with the worst takes imaginable. Jennifer Rubin is always in the hunt for gold, with masterpieces like “No one does it like Andrew Cuomo,” or “Biden excels at his first news conference. The media embarrass themselves.” 

Others are constantly vying for Rubin’s top spot, of course, like The New York Times’ Michelle Goldberg with columns like “Attacks on Jews Over Israel Are a Gift to the Right,” while there are relative underdogs putting in an impressive effort, such as LA Times’ Erika D. Smith with “Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy. You’ve been warned.”

In a column for The Atlantic, however, Tom Nichols provided a nugget of ridiculousness that rivals Jennifer Rubin on her hackiest of days: “Leave Joe Biden Alone.”

“Biden’s been a good president, but Republicans want to impeach him and some Democrats want to replace him,” Nichols began, soon adding, “I voted for Joe Biden, and I like him.”

Duh.

The rest of the column reads either as phenomenal satire, or the most out-of-touch commentary I’ve ever seen.

“The Joe Biden who ran in 2020 appeared wiser, sadder, somewhat deflated, and seemed to be taking on the presidency as a public service and a burden,” Nichols wrote.

Nothing says “taking on the presidency as a public service and a burden” like running for president as often as physically possible….
