So after Kanye “Ye” West went full-on Nazi and said that he loves Hitler, a video went viral on social media that — at first glance — appeared to show a bunch of Jewish celebrities speaking out against Kanye West and his antisemitism, raising the Star of David-spangled middle finger.
Unfortunately…it was an AI deepfake…which was obvious to most who are up-to-date with such things, but could easily fool the less technologically-minded among us.
The AI-generated video included the following high-profile figures (I think?): Scarlett Johansson, Drake, Jerry Seinfeld, Steven Spielberg, Mark Zuckerberg, Sacha Baron Cohen, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Jack Black, Mike Bloomberg, Simon and Garfunkel, Lenny Kravitz, Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Woody Allen, Mila Kunis, Ben Stiller, Adam Levine, Adam Sandler, and a few other people whose creepy AI-regeneration I didn’t recognize.
Quick side note: it never stops being awesome how many famous Jews there are. Athletes? Not so much, but hey, you can’t have everything.
Second, whoever made this video missed some of the greats! Dustin Hoffman, Gal Gadot (duh), Barbara Streisand, Daniel Day-Lewis, Daniel Radcliffe, Eva Green, Robert Downey Jr., Andy Samberg, and basically everyone who’s friends with James Franco.
But what’s the actual problem here? It’s that someone had to make this AI video in the first place!
